About this tool

Reversing text means something different depending on what unit you reverse. Flipping by character turns "Hello" into "olleH" — useful for palindrome checks, novelty messages, or mirror-writing effects. Flipping by word keeps each word spelled normally but puts them in reverse order, which is handy for testing layout logic or just scrambling a sentence. Flipping by line reverses the order of lines in a block of text, useful for reversing a list or a chronological log. This tool supports all three modes from the same input.

What's the difference between character and word reversal?

Character mode reverses every individual character, so "Hello world" becomes "dlrow olleH". Word mode keeps each word intact but reverses their order, so "Hello world" becomes "world Hello".

Can I reverse the order of lines in a list?

Yes — switch to Line mode and each line in your text keeps its own content but the lines are reordered from last to first, which is useful for flipping a chronological list.

Can I use this to check if something is a palindrome?

Yes — reverse your text by character and compare it visually (or copy both versions) to the original; if they match, it's a palindrome.

Flipping text backwards

Choose whether to reverse by character, by word or by line, and the result updates as you type. By character, a whole sentence reads backwards. By word, the letters stay put and the order of the words flips. By line, the last line becomes the first.

It's good for puzzles and word games, for creating a mirrored caption, for checking whether a phrase is a palindrome, and for turning a list upside down without retyping it.

Reversing by character treats every letter, space and symbol as an item, so punctuation travels with the rest and ends up at the front.

A quick example

Before
Hello World (by character)
After
dlroW olleH
