About this tool

Text copied from PDFs, e-readers, or old email threads often carries a hard line break at the end of every visual line, which is fine for the original layout but breaks badly when you paste it somewhere with different width — you end up with a ragged staircase of short lines instead of a flowing paragraph. This tool finds every line break (whether Windows-style CRLF, old Mac-style CR, or Unix-style LF) and replaces it with whatever you choose: a plain space to rejoin into one paragraph, a comma for list-like data, or nothing at all to butt words together.

Does it handle all line break styles?

Yes — Windows (CRLF), classic Mac (CR), and Unix/Linux/modern Mac (LF) line endings are all detected and replaced, so it works regardless of what created the original text.

Can I remove line breaks completely with nothing in their place?

Yes — clear the replacement field entirely and line breaks will simply be deleted, joining lines with no character between them at all.

Will this affect paragraph spacing I want to keep?

Every line break is treated the same way, including blank lines between paragraphs, so if you want to preserve paragraph separation, process each paragraph individually or add your own separator manually afterward.

Joining broken lines back together

Text copied from a PDF, an email or a narrow column usually arrives chopped into short lines. Paste it in and the line breaks are replaced with a space, so it flows as ordinary paragraphs again. If you'd rather use something else, such as a comma for a list, type it into the replacement box.

Besides fixing pasted articles, it turns a column of items into one line, which is how many forms and search boxes want them. Set the replacement to a comma and a space and a list of names becomes a tidy comma-separated line.

One thing to watch: it removes every break, including the ones between real paragraphs, so blank lines turn into extra spaces. If you need to keep paragraph gaps, put them back by hand afterwards.

Good to know

Hyphenated words that were split across two lines, like "informa-" then "tion", won't be rejoined automatically. Search for those after converting.
