About this tool

Markdown tables are readable to type by hand for a couple of rows, but the pipe-and-dash alignment gets tedious fast once you have more than a handful of columns. This tool takes the shortcut most people already know, comma-separated values, one row per line, with the first row as the header, and turns it into properly formatted Markdown table syntax instantly, complete with a live rendered preview so you can check it looks right before pasting it into a README, wiki, or pull request description.

What if one of my cell values contains a comma?

This tool splits each line on every comma, so a comma inside a cell value will be treated as a column separator and shift the rest of that row. If your data has embedded commas, swap them for a semicolon or another character before pasting, or edit the generated Markdown afterward.

Do all rows need the same number of columns?

For a clean, correctly aligned table, yes, every row should have the same number of comma-separated values as the header row. Rows with fewer or more columns will still generate, but the resulting table may render with misaligned or missing cells.

Does this support column alignment (left/center/right)?

No, the generated separator row uses plain dashes for every column, which renders as default left-aligned text in virtually every Markdown viewer. You can manually add colons to the separator row afterward (e.g. ":---:" for centered) if you need specific alignment.
